Samreen Kaur Ahuja
POST-BACC RESEARCH ASSISTANT
Samreen is currently pursuing her first year of a post-baccalaureate diploma in counseling and human development at Simon Fraser University. Her research interests lie in the moral development of children and adolescents. She brings her passion for understanding human behavior to her work at Burnaby Family Life, where she takes care of preschool children. Her long-term goal is to obtain a Master of Arts in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, furthering her commitment to helping others navigate life's challenges.
Jacob Angeles
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Jacob is a fifth-year undergraduate student in the Psychology Honours program at Simon Fraser University. His areas of research interest include early gesture and social development, prosocial behaviour and developmental disabilities. He works as a supervisor at the Canucks Autism Network and he volunteers at the Surrey Hospice Society. He hopes to complete graduate training in clinical psychology and use his experiences to support children and adolescents in his community. Outside of academia, he enjoys reading, music and hanging out with friends.
Alisa Goman
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Alisa is completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at SFU with a minor in Educational Psychology. Her research interests include cultural psychology, developmental psychology, and emotional development. Outside of academics, she has always found a way to be involved with people of all ages; including summer day camps for kids, teen advisory groups, and volunteering in an art gallery. Outside the lab, she loves hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends!
Cahleigh Kalbfleisch
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Cahleigh is a fourth-year undergraduate student in Psychology at Simon Fraser University. Alongside her studies in psychology, Cahleigh has worked as a youth support worker for Hollyburn Family Services and volunteers with an organization that supports low-income mothers. Her research interests include attachment, spirituality, addiction, paraphilic disorders, and intervention. Through her endeavors, Cahleigh hopes to eventually apply her research to adapting and developing psychological interventions that address dysfunction holistically.
Monika Leeder
Lab Manager
Monika is completing her second BA, majoring in Psychology. Her research interests include social-emotional and moral development, human agency and its development, and issues of belongingness. In the future, she hopes to utilize her knowledge by helping parents understand their children better (via research and/or practice). Outside the lab, she's a mom to a high-spirited 11-year-old and a volunteer with Sources, serving low-income seniors in her community.
Philip Lau
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Philip is a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in Psychology with an extended minor in Criminology. His general research interests include spirituality/suffering, emotional development, cognitions, and treatment/coping. He aims to pursue clinical psychology to enter a career in which he can help to alleviate people’s suffering in a holistic manner that is also incorporative of his own experiences. Outside of school, he enjoys various forms of dance and music, as well as just relaxing!
Angel Leung
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Angel is an undergraduate student at SFU completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Counselling and Human Development. Her research interests broadly include prosocial behaviour, moral development, and cultural psychology. She's particularly interested in learning more about how moral pride is expressed and socialized across different cultural contexts and family dynamics, as well as if and how this moral emotion can be beneficial to foster stronger community connections. As for her future goals, she hopes to pursue a career where she can continue to provide support and guidance for post-secondary students of all levels. Outside of the lab, she likes to hang out with her friends and cook whatever her heart desires!
Liam McCloskey
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Liam is a fourth-year undergraduate honours student majoring in Psychology with a minor in Counselling and Human Development. His areas of research interests include studying the relationship between psychopathology and moral emotions, emotional development across the lifespan, and adolescent suicidality. After graduating he plans to pursue graduate training in clinical psychology. He currently volunteers at the Crisis Line and works as a Transitional Worker with Coast Mental Health. Outside of school his interests include photography, travelling, sim racing and enjoying all things music!
Rockcelle Oquendo
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Rockcelle is majoring in Biomedical Physiology at Simon Fraser University. Her research interests include moral development and developmental disabilities, as well as positive and negative peer influence. She currently volunteers in the Emergency Department at the BC Children’s Hospital, as well as at Kids Help Phone as a Volunteer Crisis Responder. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in medicine as an emergency physician or pediatrician to further support the children and people in her local community. Outside of school, she loves running in long-distance races and visiting new cafés!
